COURSE DESCRIPTION:
Recognizing and treating ocular disease cases can be one of the most rewarding aspects of our profession. This interactive grand rounds course will feature actual patient cases seen by the presenters in clinical practice. Cases will span from the anterior segment to the posterior segment and everything in between.
LEARNING OBJECTIVES:
- Review/become familiar with retinal detachments and the appropriate management of them.
- Review/become familiar with glaucoma diagnostic tests and which are most important in certain cases.
- Review/become familiar with recurrent corneal erosions (RCE’s) and the treatment options available for them.
- Review/become familiar with Preseptal Cellulitis, Orbital Cellulitis, and Lid Abscesses, and the treatment options available for each.
- Review/become familiar with corneal ulcers and the treatment options available for them.
- Review/become familiar with Central Serous Chorioretinopathy and the treatment options available for it.
- Review/become familiar with Plaquenil toxicity and the appropriate management of it.
- Review/become
familiar with Pseudotumor Cerebri and the appropriate management of it.

Dr.
Nathan Lighthizer
Dr. Nathan (Nate) Lighthizer, born in Bismarck, North Dakota, is a graduate of Pacific University College of Optometry. He completed a Family Practice residency with an emphasis in Ocular Disease at Northeastern State University Oklahoma College of Optometry (NSUOCO), where he now serves as Associate Dean.
He founded and leads NSU’s Dry Eye Clinic and is Chief of Specialty Care Clinics and Electrodiagnostics. A nationally recognized lecturer, Dr. Lighthizer specializes in advanced ophthalmic procedures, electrodiagnostics, and ocular disease. He is also a founding member and past president of the Intrepid Eye Society.
