Eyes on Cancer: Navigating Ocular
Side Effects in Cancer Treatments
COPE #103279-SD
Event #132427
Expiration Date: 02/21/2029
COURSE DESCRIPTION:
This interactive lecture explores how systemic cancers may manifest in the eye and orbit via metastasis, direct extension, paraneoplastic effects, or treatment toxicity. After a focused review of metastatic pathways and ocular vulnerability, we will examine hallmark ocular presentations, diagnostic strategies, therapeutic options, ocular toxicities from modern cancer therapies, and the interdisciplinary management essential to caring for oncology patients.
LEARNING OBJECTIVES:
- Recognize hallmark ocular signs and symptoms of systemic cancers
- Explain the mechanisms of ocular involvement
- Identify and manage ocular adverse effects linked to systemic cancer treatments.
- Apply diagnostic and therapeutic reasoning when evaluating ocular oncology cases.
- Collaborate effectively with oncologists, ophthalmologists, and interdisciplinary teams to optimize visual and systemic outcomes.
This presentation was recorded at the Island Eyes Conference in January 2026. The conference received unrestricted educational grant support from Alcon, Sun Pharma, and Tarsus.
