COURSE DESCRIPTION:

A case report on a non-resolving hemorrhagic posterior vitreous detachment with later discovery of a retinal tear during a pars plana vitrectomy. A review of the evaluation, diagnosis, and management of vitreous hemorrhages, posterior vitreous detachments, and retinal tears. This course was recorded at our NW Residents Conference in June 2026.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES:

• Be able to identify the signs and symptoms associated with posterior vitreous detachments, vitreous hemorrhages, and retinal tears and detachments. 

• Understand the recommended testing for patients presenting with new flashes and floaters. 

• Understand the treatment options for unresolving vitreous hemorrhages and retinal tears and detachments.
