Syphilis remains an important differential to consider with optic neuropathies due to the varying clinical presentations. This course reviews different presentations of syphilis optic neuropathies. Different diagnostic techniques, treatment, and management of both ocular and systemic conditions will be highlighted.. This course was recorded at our NW Residents Conference in June 2026.

 • Explain why ocular syphilis is classified and treated as neurosyphilis regardless of systemic stage 

• Recognize the characteristic signs and symptoms of syphilitic optic neuropathy, and the recommended diagnostic workup
