An Anchor on Dizziness: Optometric Vestibular Therapy for the Post-Concussive Patient

COPE #105264-FV
Event #133223
Expiration date: 06/23/2029

COURSE DESCRIPTION:

This course reviews post-concussion dizziness through a practical neuro-optometric vestibular lens. You’ll learn how visual, vestibular, cervical, and proprioceptive systems interact to create spatial stability, how to screen with DVAT, saccades, and optic-flow testing, and how to prescribe anchored, graded home programs for recovery. This course was recorded at our NW Residents Conference in June 2026.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES:

• Recognize how subjective and quantitative measures during the DVAT and OKN tests provide valuable input regarding motion sensitivity.

• Recognize how neurooptometric tools (low plus, small prism, selective occlusion, filters/tints, cervical input cues) can provide visual relief and also aid recovery among post-concussive patients with dizziness.

• Understand how to tailor home dizziness therapy by combining gaze stabilization, oculomotor rehab, optic-flow habituation, and grounding/cervical integration.
