COURSE DESCRIPTION:

This course will cover the etiology, ocular manifestations, and management of arteritic anterior ischemic optic neuropathy. Management will include recent updates to diagnostic testing and medication treatment options of giant cell arteritis. This course was recorded at our NW Residents Conference in June 2026.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES:

• Be able to recognize systemic risk factors, symptoms, and ophthalmic findings for arteritic ischemic optic neuropathy.

• Summarize diagnostic testing for giant cell arteritis to aid in accurate and quick diagnosis.

• Identify available and upcoming treatment options for GCA to improve patient education and collaborative care.
