Navigating the Glaucoma Patient's Journey From OCT to OR
COPE #105967-GL
Event #133390
Expiration Date: 7/24/2029
COURSE DESCRIPTION:
This course builds the diagnostic and clinical foundation needed to confidently interpret peripapillary OCT, recognize secondary glaucomas, and understand when and how surgical intervention fits into the patient's care pathway. Through case-based learning, attendees will develop the skills to navigate the full glaucoma management continuum - from early detection to surgical co-management.
LEARNING OBJECTIVES:
• Accurately interpret peripapillary OCT findings, including common artifacts and confounding pathology, to differentiate true glaucomatous change from false-positive results.
• Identify the clinical features, diagnostic criteria, and management principles of key secondary glaucomas including pigment dispersion, pseudoexfoliation, uveitic, neovascular, and angle recession glaucoma.
• Describe the optometrist's role in the surgical care continuum, including patient preparation, education, and collaborative management across the spectrum of interventional care.
This presentation was recorded at the Victoria, BC Conference in July 2026. The conference received unrestricted educational grant support from Alcon & Sun Pharma.
