COURSE DESCRIPTION:
Accommodative disorders are prevalent in optometry clinics, yet testing for accommodative disorders is often underutilized, and prescribing can be challenging for pracMMoners. Through several case reports, this lecture aims to provide practical clinical pearls for elucidating accommodative dysfunction for pracMMoners in most settings, from primary to specialty care.
LEARNING OBJECTIVES:
• Describe a variety of accommodative diagnoses and illustrate how they may present to clinic
• Discuss common accommodative tests that can be used in clinic, emphasizing ways to separate the accommodative and vergence systems
• Explore ways to determine proper adds for various conditions, including but not limited to v insufficiency, convergence excess, and accommodative spasm.

Getting to know our speakers
Aaron Salzano, OD, FAAO, FCOVD
Dr. Salzano is an Assistant Professor at Pacific University College of Optometry. Following a residency in Pediatric Optometry and Vision Therapy at Marshall B. Ketchum University (SCCO), he practiced pediatric optometry, vision therapy, and primary care in Albany, Oregon, before joining the faculty at Pacific. He participates in clinical research with the Pediatric Eye Disease Investigator Group (PEDIG) and looks forward to expanding his research within pediatrics, vision therapy, and sports vision.
Dr. Salzano is a Fellow of the American Academy of Optometry (FAAO), a Fellow of the College of Optometrists in Vision Development (FCOVD), and serves as a member of the American Optometric Association's Sports & Performance Vision Committee.
