.COURSE DESCRIPTION:

The eyelids are responsible for the continued health of the ocular surface and are uniquely positioned and built to do so. The eyelids are affected differently than any other skin found on the body by numerous disease and aging processes. From lumps and bumps to rhytids and drooping this course will talk about the what, why, and most importantly how we as optometric physicians can help our patient’s eyelids and the challenging periorbital aging anatomy. *This course was recorded at our Island Eyes Conference 2024.

• Understand and review periocular anatomy and how it is affected by the midface.

• Discuss the anatomy of the eyelids and periorbital skin

• Review and explore causes of periorbital abnormalities

Dr. Selina McGee

Dr. Selina McGee is Founder and Owner of BeSpoke Vision, a private practice that offers patients a wide range of optometric care via its dry eye center, specialty contact lens clinic and aesthetics suite. She is a renowned national and international speaker. She is an Adjunct Assistant Professor at the Northeastern State University College of Optometry. She is on faculty at The Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation. She currently serves as President for the Intrepid Eye Society, Trustee on the SECO Board, and the Board of Examiners in Oklahoma. She is a Fellow of the American Academy of Optometry and a Diplomate of the American Board of Optometry, and is Past-President of the Oklahoma Association of Optometric Physicians. She is the current co-medical editor of Modern Optometry. She has dozens of publications to her credit in Optometry Times, Review of Optometry, and Optometric Management. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Biology (where she graduated Summa Cum Laude) and Doctor of Optometry (also Summa Cum Laude) from Northeastern State University College of Optometry.
