COURSE DESCRIPTION:
This lecture will go through some of the more commonly identified retinal conditions and pearls on how to manage these patients in the peri-operative period.
LEARNING OBJECTIVES:
• The audience will have a broader understanding of which retinal conditions could be exacerbated by cataract surgery and which are safe to proceed.
• The audience will get an overview of retinal conditions including prevalence, characteristic, clinical findings retinal photos and macular OCTs.
• For conditions that would be exacerbated by cataract surgery, we will cover the best course of action in preparation to ensure optimal visual outcomes following surgery.
• The optometrist will be able to set better expectations for their patients who have co-existing cataracts and retinal pathology.
