This course is designed to provide optometrists with knowledge and skills necessary to effectively manage emergent & urgent ocular cases. Highlighting some of the most critical cases involving the anterior segment of the eye, double vision, retinal conditions, and eye injuries.

• Identify and manage the underlying causes of diplopia by utilizing the diplopia flow chart, determining when imaging is required, and making appropriate referral decisions.
• Evaluate and treat ocular trauma by assessing corneal injuries, eyelid lacerations, and anterior chamber conditions, including the need for urgent referrals to specialists.
• Recognize and respond to retinal artery occlusions and angle closure glaucoma by understanding their signs, symptoms, and necessary in-office and emergency treatments.
