Course Description:
The purpose of this course is to provide an overview of medical mistrust and discuss the historical perspectives, origins, and legacies of medical mistrust in Black and Latinx communities. The course will also discuss the role of provider implicit bias in healthcare and health inequities, especially in HIV, reproductive health, diabetes and COVID-19. This interactive course will discuss some experiences of medical mistrust and discrimination in the clinical setting and provide some possible recommendations and strategies to improve trust and subsequently healthcare outcomes.
