COURSE DESCRIPTION:

In the first half of the course, we will discuss Choroidal lesions found on dilated fundus exam yield a differential dilemma that requires the application of diagnostic testing to determine if high-risk characteristics are present, resulting in the most appropriate management plan and treatment recommendation. The second half of the course will focus on Choroidal folds can be associated with many conditions, including, retrobulbar mass, tumors, choroidal neovascularization, posterior scleritis, or ocular surgery. We explore a case of choroidal folds in a 73-year-old male without the preceding associations.

EARNING OBJECTIVE:
• Identify characteristics of suspicious choroidal lesions
• Understand when further testing of a retinal lesion is warranted
• Recognize when a referral, based on testing, is recommended
• To identify the clinical appearance of choroidal folds on fundoscopy and other imaging modalities.
• To recognize the ocular and systemic implications of choroidal folds.
• To learn the role optometrists, have in guiding management of choroidal folds.
